The Talent Acquisition (TA) Senior Project Manager works side by side with key TA business partners and stakeholders to define high level business intent and features, drive solution decisions and ensure finished products meet the needs of the business. The Senior Manager is called upon to help shape strategy and content of project delivery, be able to operate in an agile environment and will actively manage the project plan and resources to ensure success. In addition, the TA, Senior Project Manager will lead the Workday Recruiting team and be responsible for the business support and partnership with key TA and Technology business partners on the overall strategy for Workday recruiting. The Senior Manager will also oversee the management and coordination of the HR project portfolio through P3 and Executive Change Committee processes.
What you will do – Essential Responsibilities ( Talent Acquisition)
Lead cross functional projects and teams that transform the way CarMax attracts and hires top talent; create and manage project business cases, project plans and associated analytics to ensure projects are executed on time, on budget, and in scope
Solicit ideas, assess and prioritize talent acquisition product opportunities, both for new solutions and existing feature optimization
Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement, develop recruiting strategies and lead & support talent initiatives that ensure our stores and recruiters have the tools necessary to hire successful associates.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders; leverage their insight to develop great products and identify cross-organizational synergies & dependencies
Keep the business informed of TA project activities and progress to goals; develop and execute communication plans for partners across the organization in partnership with TA leadership
Be a champion for our Candidates while balancing the needs of the business
Serve as a resource for changes and policies for Talent Acquisition
Lead Workday Recruiting operations team to support day to day business needs and work with TA leadership/Technology to develop and support longer term Workday Recruiting strategies.
Purpose of the role
The Senior Project Manager leads and serves as a resource for key initiatives across Human Resources and the business. As CarMax evolves the customer experience, this role is dedicated to ensuring the Human Resources experience also evolves. In this role, you will be called upon the help shape HR strategies and serve as trusted partner for leaders across the organization.
To excel in this role, an individual must have:
Experience leading projects of large scope, size and duration (e.g. system/platform conversions, process overhaul)
Familiarity with Agile, Scrum and related principles and best practices a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills leveraged to interface with business stakeholders and technical delivery resources
Experience facilitating working sessions between different groups of stakeholders
Relevant industry and application functional knowledge
Ability to consult, communicate with and influence a variety of audiences including business partners, stakeholders and senior management
Ability to observe business situations, recognize roadblocks, and deliver solutions
Excellent cross-functional teamwork skills and ability to effectively navigate across the organization
Ability to influence and indirectly team members to meet project deliverables
Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and projects while consistently meeting deadlines with accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to identify areas of improvement and make sound recommendations to solve problems
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Effective at handling multiple concurrent projects
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and proceed on own good judgment
Possesses superior communication, influencing and facilitation skills.
Qualifications and Requirements
3+ years in project management or a related field
BA or BS in related field, preferred
Talent Acquisition experience a plus
Workday Recruiting knowledge required
Knowledge of CarMax business and systems a plus
Experience with Agile, Scrum and related principles and best practices a plus
Experience in technology-centered solutions delivery
Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
