About this job
This role is that of an ambassador and counselor among the various Technology teams. They are charged with ensuring that their team is focused on strong customer service, collaborating to successfully meet organizational priorities, and resolving conflict with a win-win resolution.
The Manager is a key liaison with the customer community. They need to be able to communicate and collaborate with the business users and customers in order to have their tasks addressed in a manner that builds positive customer relations. They are also able to courageously influence the processes and barriers to their projects to best represent the customers’ requirements and needs.
What you will do – Essential Responsibilities
Responsible for day-to-day tactical team decisions
Required to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Accountable for team’s use and adherence to the CarMax® policies and procedures
Ability to drive through obstacles and time constraints to overcome barriers and successfully deliver results
Create/maintain team staffing and scheduling, to include time tracking
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and assign tactical requests to the team
Responsible for frequent associate File Reviews
Consistent ability to provide associate feedback by writing and delivering Annual Performance Reviews
Working with associates to collaboratively establish an Individual Development Plan and review them on a timely basis
Ability to track associate performance and provide them with appropriate feedback
Technology Department Support
Manages and contributes to the Technology Budgeting & Planning process. Presents annual budget to the Senior Executive Team.
Provides ongoing support for finance and accounting reporting needs – Payroll capitalization, variance explanations, accruals
Partners with Finance on Product "dash-boarding" and reporting
Responsible for monthly forecasts and reporting to Technology Senior Executives
Collaborate with Technology management to improve process
Manage and contribute to the Technology Dashboard and the individual strategic program dashboards
Support Technology Governance by providing financial analysis and Time Tracking data
Mature the Technology Finance capabilities and contribute to the Technology Business Management roadmap and execution
Manage the team that provides purchase order, invoicing and contractor sourcing support for the Technology department.
Customer Interaction / Business Knowledge
Expert ability to understand finance and accounting principles and to be able to answer them for the Technology department leadership
Consistent ability to build positive relationships with customers and contacts in supported business areas – Finance, Accounting, Fixed Assets, CAF
Expert ability to interact with the customer including understanding of requirements and proposed solutions
Consistent ability to lead meetings and discussions in order to gain consensus and establish direction
Continually seeks opportunities to increase internal customer satisfaction and deepen client relations.
Purpose of the role
Technology investment at CarMax continues to grow and requires proper oversight and management. This role supports key decision around department spend by providing visibility into how our budget and forecast are trending throughout the year. The team supporting this also plays a critical function in processing purchase orders and invoices, responding to vendor inquiries and helping to source, on-board and track contractors for the department managers. The role is responsible for participating in and executing to the CTBM team’s roadmap.

7+ years of applicable experience including managing large department budgets as well as familiarity of Technology related costs is preferred.
