The Manager of HR Services is part of a Human Resources team responsible for providing HR support for the CarMax corporate office, and will report directly the Director of Home Office HR Services. This role will be responsible for creating and managing CarMax’s immigration and sponsorship program in support of CarMax’s overall Talent Acquisition strategy. This role will have direct interaction with other HR partners, legal counsel, business partners, and prospective and current CarMax associates. It will serve as an internal subject matter expert on employment immigration and sponsorship matters.
What you will do – Essential Responsibilities
Develop and oversee an internal sponsorship program including the creation of policies and procedures allowing for prompt, accurate and compliant processing and monitoring of immigration and visa applications.
Lead the identification and on-going evaluation of sponsorship-eligible roles in support of the overall Talent Acquisition hiring strategy.
In partnership with outside immigration counsel, proactively monitor the status of pending immigration applications and petitions, and communicate status updates to business partners as appropriate.
Serve as the primary CarMax point of contact for prospective and current associates going through various types of immigration process (new/transfer visas, change of status, amendment, extensions, business travel, permanent residency, etc.), and any on-going sponsorship-related needs.
Educate the extended HR team (i.e., HR Services, Talent Acquisition, etc) and internal business partner groups with relevant information and advice on immigration requirements as necessary.
In partnership with external immigration counsel, analyze complex immigration matters and effectively communicate solutions to internal business partners.
Proactively develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk for CarMax.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Five or more years of general Human Resources experience, or a related field
Three or more years of employment immigration experience, and in-depth knowledge of immigration law
