About this job
The Content Editor position is responsible for editing content created via agency, freelance, and in-house writers. This role will serve as a creative contributor for CarMax content, including car shopping and research articles, data-driven stories, partner content as part of the in-house team.
This position will partner with creative team members, content strategy, and leaders to deliver clear, engaging content to meet goals driven by customer needs and business opportunities.
What you will do – Essential Responsibilities
Support content production efforts of the CarMax Content program
Edit content produced via various partners
Promote SEO best practices throughout content development
Ensure legal and brand/content style compliance
Partner with strategy, design, and developers to meet goals
Collaborate with other creative teams on special projects
Purpose of the role
Responsible for ensuring delivery of great content every day, an ideal candidate will provide customers with useful content that instills confidence in the used car shopping journey. A successful candidate will bring strong creative ideas, understand and implement SEO best practices, and have a track record of creating innovative and engaging content.
Qualifications and Requirements
Long-form copyedit expertise (partnering with writers and proof readers, as needed)
Experience crafting headlines that engage readers and highlight covered topics
Ability to translate consumer insights data into actionable content for consumers
Ability to work within constraints of a style guide and help develop style to accommodate growing needs
Working knowledge of SEO, UX, and Google Analytic
Strong time-management while balancing priorities
Ability to resolve challenges in a positive and professional manner
Four-year college degree (Marketing, Mass Communication, Advertising, Journalism, or English) required
4+ years of related experience, automotive content a plus, but not required
Computer skills: Microsoft Office 365
Communicate clearly and effectively through verbal, written, and non-verbal methods
