A CarMax Art Director is a visual storyteller with a passion for making digital solutions clear, beautiful, and engaging. Demonstrate your skills for creating marketing across a variety of platforms including: advertising, OOH, display, social, presentation, and some animation. Partnering with strategists, copywriters, and other art directors to deliver exceptional design solutions. Be an active member of a creative team motivated to deliver creative that works to support strategic goals.
What you will do – Essential Responsibilities
Deliver cross-channel creative designs for Creative designs for CarMax marketing initiatives
Interpret strategic direction and develop clear and consistent creative designs and layouts
Provide multiple creative solutions for design tasks
Partner within a cross-functional team to deliver exceptional creative deliverables
Present work with design rationale, tying to strategy brief and brand guidelines
Maintain knowledge of emerging technology and creative trends
Purpose of the role
An ideal candidate has experience working within brand guidelines, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is ready to innovate with a growing team. As a team, we develop creative marketing materials that build awareness, drive traffic, and increase affinity for CarMax and the experiences we offer our customers.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, plus if in related field
4+ years of digital design experience, preferred agency or in-house creative department
Digital portfolio or work samples showcasing multiple examples of digital work including social, email and display
Mastery of tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InVision, InDesign and Powerpoint. Additional skills in motion design and illustration a plus
Passion for visual design and innovation
The drive to stay on top of industry trends and best practices, sharing inspiration with teammates and creative partners
Ability to convert ideas quickly into concepts/prototypes
Ability to collaborate productively with other designers contributing objective and constructive feedback
Strong knowledge of digital design and ability to innovate while still following visual guidelines
Ability to interpret legal guidelines, copyright requirements and use of disclaimers
Ability to understand workflow and approval process
Strong analysis & decision-making skills
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through verbal, written, and visual methods
Ability to translate consumer insights data into design solutions for consumers
